Since cub until death lions accumulate hits and wounds more than any other predator. Lions are for more physical in hunting than tigers and used more energy. The single lion has by far the greatest predator-prey weight ratio. (Baker 1989, BBC Earth).

The lion may attack from all angles but the tiger usually is a rear and side attacker. The tiger has the reputation to be coward. In India he has a hard time confronting a small sloth bear.

Read up what courage means Ross Wind and this king of beasts is the lion is merely a political thing and regional, lions chosen as they are social, tigers may be the greater cat in size but they aren’t social most cases so cannot be deemed a ruler. The male lion’s mane also is very majestic. Again also read up on some facts, tigers beat lions in most physical categories actually! If these kings of old wanted symbols of power they’d chose the jaguar anyway as that’s stronger than either the tiger or lion relatively speaking. Regarding siberian tiger sizes, you do realise specimens of very threatened species get a lot smaller than an accurate example of when they were not a threatened species? If and hopefully never, if the Bengal tigers declined to 500 or less they would most likely have a lower average than the existing siberian tigers and did that project capture and weigh every single extant wild siberian tiger? No. Just to add re Lion vs Tiger, the lion I think would win on stamina and agility some cases, though the tiger can leap further and higher, it holds the record for the 2nd and is joint 1st or is 2nd at the first after the cougar.

Can’t say I’ve researched it myself but it’s really not that difficult to imagine tigers killing fully grown brown bears, the size discrepancy isn’t that great at the top ends of tiger sizes vs brown bears at least in Eurasia, even then size doesn’t offer as much defence as you’d think, tigers actively kill far bigger prey than any bear anyway. Some have even killed elephants, am sure you have heard that. Yes though always good to have proof of any claim but I don’t see why it’s hard to swallow.

FROM WCS RUSSIA (wildlife conservation society) Siberian tigers are often considered the largest of the tiger sub-species, although they are in fact about the same size as the Bengal tiger. An adult male usually reaches a body length of 2 meters, with his tail adding another meter. Average weight for males is 160-190 kg (353-419 lbs), while females are smaller, weighing in at 110-130 kg (243-286 lbs). The largest male captured for scientific research under the Siberian Tiger Project weighed in at 206 kg (450 lbs) – wcsrussia.org/en-us/wildlife/amurtigers/ecology.aspx

The Lion’s muscular structure is the greatest of the mammalians family. It was not unnoticed. Combine with superior fighting skills, courage and will power the lion specie was compared by the antique civilizations to the most powerful thing known to men the “sun”. The mighty lion was considered as a force of the nature the optimum land predator and warrior. All kings wanted to be related to lions. They could had chosen their native Caspian tigers or brown bear. No they choose the mighty lion as king of the beasts.

If you are talking about a larger tiger killing a smaller immature bear that should be included in the content of this page. The way it currently reads is less scientific and more fantastic with a slanted view. This is made worse by omitting references.
